DOJ & FBI CERTIFIED · WEST LOS ANGELES
Some agencies still require traditional ink fingerprinting using FD-258 cards. At L A
Fingerprints, Inc., we provide precise, official ink prints that meet all local, state, and federal
requirements.
We take the time to ensure every print is clear and properly rolled, reducing the chances of your card being rejected. If you need multiple cards, we’re happy to accommodate.
There are some people, through no fault of their own, who get rejected because of low-quality prints. We are often able to help our customers with this issue.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
It depends on what your employer or firm specifies. FINRA accepts both electronic Live Scan submission (directly to the FBI) and hard-copy FD-258 ink cards. Most modern FINRA member firms prefer Live Scan for faster processing, but some firms — especially those with out-of-state or international compliance teams — still require physical FD-258 cards. Bring your employer’s fingerprinting instructions and we will confirm the correct format before we begin.
Bring a valid, current, government-issued photo ID — California driver’s license, U.S. passport, state ID card, or military ID. The ID must not be expired. Make sure the name on your ID matches exactly what appears on your employer’s fingerprinting form, as discrepancies can cause submission issues.
Walk-ins are always welcome. We process walk-in clients during all business hours — Monday through Friday 9AM to 5PM and Saturday 9AM to 2PM. If you have a deadline or prefer a guaranteed time slot, schedule an appointment online at lafingerprints.com/schedule-appointment or call (888) 501-9008.
The fingerprinting appointment itself takes under 15 minutes once you check in. If you have all required documents — your ID, employer form or ORI number, and payment — the process is fast. FBI processing of the background check after submission typically takes 1 to 3 business days for electronic Live Scan, and longer for ink card submissions sent by mail.
Yes. If your firm supplied blank FD-258 ink cards for you to bring in, we complete them for you. If your firm did not supply cards, we have FD-258 cards on-site. Bring your employer’s instructions so we know exactly how to complete the card — submission address, contribution code, reason fingerprinted, and other required fields vary by firm.
It depends on your registration history. If you have been continuously registered with a FINRA member firm without a gap of more than two years, you may not need to be re-fingerprinted. If there has been a break in registration, or if your new firm’s compliance team requires it, you will need to resubmit. Check with your new firm’s compliance or HR department and bring their instructions to your appointment.
Yes — this is one of the most common requests we get from financial professionals. Employer fingerprinting forms can be confusing, especially when they involve ORI codes, contribution codes, or specific submission addresses. Bring all paperwork your firm provided and our certified technician will review it, confirm the correct process, and make sure everything is submitted exactly as your firm requires.
Your prints are transmitted directly to the FBI through DOJ-authorized, certified submission channels.
